Stage II Transcripts 1987-1988.

This series comprises printed, bound transcripts of interviews conducted with women missionaries from The American Lutheran Church (TALC) or one its predecessors. These transcripts are the product of the second stage of the TALC project Women Missionaries Oral History Project which had as its goals to record the experiences of women missionaries deployed in countries in which TALC had a mission presence or partnered with an indigenous church. These transcripts are from interviews conducted in 1987-1988. The majority of the women interviewed in stage II of the project were born between 1911 and 1920. Countries of service represented in these interviews include Japan, China, India, Senegal, Cameroon, Papua New Guinea, Madagascar, Nigeria, South Africa, Central African Republic, Colombia, Taiwan, and Brazil. These transcripts are arranged in alphabetical order by the missionary's last name. The container list includes the country in which the missionary served as well as the date the interview took place. When applicable, the interviewee's maiden name is also included. Please see ELCA 24/2/1/2 Women Missionaries Oral History Project, Transcripts and Photographs, 1985-1992, for transcripts from the project's stages I and III.
